Adaptation of the book Liz Here Now and a true story set in 1960s Oakland. To be a part of a project where hair and makeup styles played such an important role in the political climate, especially around the civil rights movement, was a privilege and one that I intensively and exhaustively researched prior to production through documentaries such as Black Panthers and archive photography books such as Black Archives and Gordon Parks’ Born Black. My hair and makeup designs for this film featured a number of wigs, including many for the big BG scenes, as well as period-accurate makeup looks for the different character classes and a large amount of prosthetic pieces applied by myself and my team.
